Dance

So today I finally got in the studio to start one of my new projects for 2013 -  Dance.
I have always loved dance and always kind of regretted that I give up ballet as a kid - it is so delicate and beautiful!
Please head on over to my photograpy blog to see more, I just couldn't resist posting this little one here also.

The owl said to the fox

Well, Christmas was over as fast as it came but I can finally reveal this stunning piece of art work!!
This year, I have fallen in love with the artwork of, ever so talented, Alice Savage - an artist based in Italy whom I found on facebook!
As well as the several pieces I bought for myself, I also asked Alice to commission me a special piece for my sisters Christmas present! All I asked was that my sister wore an owl mask and I wore a fox. I think Alice did a great job with the features - This is, obviously, before I dyed my hair red but.
I absolutely love this piece and I couldn't resist buying myself and my mum a print of this for Christmas as well!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!
Ohh, and please check out Alice's page here: Alice Savage

A pretty tree and homemade paper

Look a little like Christmas it may but feel.. I am still not entirely there!!
This weekend, I nipped into Falmouth to see Katie and ended up coming home with a tree! Now I wake up each day, tiptoe into the living room and all I can smell is Christmas!
Tom took some, rather blurry, pictures of me decorating the tree - as opposed to actually helping me decorate the tree! - Men, 'eh!?
Of course, my beautiful peacock, from St Ives, took pride of place on the top of my pretty little tree and doesn't he look lovely?
.. But I did not stop there! Yesterday, I finally got my hands on some parcel paper, a few stamps and some ink to make some pretty paper for wrapping all those lovely gifts! Is there a better use of an old potato?
Don't worry, that isn't all of the presents, not by far, but it is a start to the Christmas feeling and I can't wait to make some card bunting and get those stockings up!!
Happy festive days everybody,
Mx

A nice comment...

Something I have been meaning to share with you all! Following my three piece shoot with photographer  Emma Griffin I received this rather lovely model review!
"Megan is a photographer, blog writer and model. When I met Megan I thought she looked and seemed to be from out of a beautiful fairy tale. So girlie and charming, like a Princess from a book. She was perfect for these shoots and a pleasure to work with"
Thank you Emma!

A shimmer of fake snow and a sparkle of fairy lights

Sometimes a change of plans makes way for an inspiring idea!
Unfortunately, due to busy schedules, our Christmas group shoot had to be postponed but as the time was already booked and the girls were all excited I decided to see who was still free to nip into town for a little 'mini' Christmas session!
I am glad that I went to the effort because Emily Rhodes and Paige Robins did a fantastic job - such young models (Emily, 15, coming on 16, Paige, 14) but so professional and well mannered!!
Not wanting to step on the toes of my grand group photo, I came up with two separate mini shoots for the girls to have a play around with.

Paige Robins
Paige went first - playing the part of my snow child, I made a seat out of snow for her to sit in and later surrounded her with battery powered fairy lights. Paige wore a feather print Asymmetric dress and the fur collar from my new coat.
Paige has a beautiful, fresh face for photography - not much editing was needed other than some custom made colour filters and a play around with the levels. I decided to play on her age by keeping the make-up simple and producing some innocent images, I particularly like the portrait of Paige to the left.
Emily Rhodes
Emily wore my broken fairytale maxi dress, fairytale added by myself, matched with a 'fur' gilet, a Phase Eight chain belt and her own heels. For Emily's story I really wanted to portray a fashion piece with a dark side - Emily has the most incredible eyes - irises so light that the pupils pop out like an animals eye.
Emily took my direction perfectly, she is very tall and thin so the positions were sharp and strong.
These two images pictured here were my favorite from her set.

"curiouser and curiouser" cried Alice

As you might remember, I recently modelled for the fabulous Emma Griffin of Griffin Photography ; this is part two (of three). Meet Alice, or me as Alice anyway! I could learn a lot from Emma Griffin - I have already learnt a little - in particular I love her use of colour filters on Photoshop -  the colours in this piece really give the image a dreamy edge.
Stay tuned for part three - Snow White.

Just a little post from me tonight as we are going out for dinner in a couple of hours and I still need to decide on what to wear!!

Oh! hello Sir!

It is official.. the moustache has taken over!!
I get that it is Movember and all but this moustache thing has been going for too long and I must admit - I don't get it, I don't understand the hype, but it is a fact and there is no denying that the world has gone crazy.. for the moustache! Oh my!!
This weekend I went on a three part photo shoot with Emma Griffin of Griffin Photography - part one was a 'fun shoot' with numerous moustache props! It was a great opportunity to have some fun with fashion - fashion can be so serious sometimes!
The outfit was quite simple: Cardi by Zara, basic skinny jeans and a pair of suede M&S ankle boots.
Parts two and three to follow.
Hey, I hear Keira Knightley did a moustache shoot for Italian Vogue!
Writing this post I noticed that my red hair has faded past the nice copper stage and started to grow roots so today I went into town and bought myself a fresh pot of dye! Woo! Red hair to follow!

Very wet feet ; a winter tale

If ever there was a day to sum up the season - today would be that day! I don't know about the rest of the world, or even the rest of the country, but Cornwall is a whole whirlwind of awful weather, miserable people and very wet feet!
This does, however, put me in quite a wintery mood and it got me thinking about all those lovely wintery accessories we indulge in when the weather turns bleak!!
I myself am a secret lover of terrible weather - I am always cold so it is lovely to wrap up in a fur cape or a big knitted snood (are they still in fashion?). I love to cuddle up in a blanket on the sofa like a bit of a recluse and listen to the rain splash in the garden!!
Rummaging through my portfolio tonight, I found this lovely winter themed photo which I took last year as a work project  to advertise jewellery! Lauren (also an employee at the company) helped me set up the scene and bought in a few bits and bobs from home, ie the lovely bird and some bark, which I believe she picked from her tree! It reminds me of being a kid and making potions out of all the exotic plants at St Silivance, Castle Hornick (where I spent many years growing up!).
It is one of my favourite pictures in my entire portfolio!
I hope it makes you feel winitery too!
